Sciences Po has created the Emile Boutmy Award – named in honor of the person responsible for founding Sciences Po in 1871 – as an incentive for outstanding international students from outside Europe or European Union countries to attend Sciences Po. Emile Boutmy scholarship fund thrives thanks to the support of its donors (benefactors or companies as well as foundations). These donors allow Sciences Po to award international students who demonstrate exceptional merit with scholarships that allow them to further their studies here. Donors also enjoy direct communication with recipients through officially organized occasions.

Emile Boutmy Scholarship 2024-2025 is an annual, fully funded award made available to students by Science Po in France. Students worldwide may apply, including undergraduate, master’s and PhD researchers; award grants an annual amount of 19,000 euros will also be distributed as Emile Boutmy Scholarship awards.

Sciences Po Undergraduate programs feature a three-year curriculum focused on social sciences. If students possessing their Baccalaureat (or equivalent in another foreign language) can complete these courses successfully, Sciences Po can award them with a Bachelor’s Degree.

Sciences Po’s graduate schools offer two-year programs leading to Master of Arts Degrees with various specialization options available.

Emile Boutmy Scholarship 2024 Benefits:

Emile Boutmy Scholarships are given out for those attending Sciences Po in their initial semester of studies and can take many different forms.

  • Tuition allowance will total EUR7300 annually during each of the three-year undergraduate programs and there will also be an award covering part of living expenses in an amount equivalent to EUR5000 each year. An award for tuition for 7300 euro annually will also be offered during these years of undergraduate education.
    Tuition fees of EUR5,000 annually cover three academic years of undergraduate courses; annually $3000 is allocated toward tuition allowance.
  • Under certain conditions, an award of up to 19,000 EUR in scholarships could be provided as compensation for three years at College. Scholarship amounts are determined during sessions held by an admission jury.
    Failing to verify your academic calendar can cause your scholarship to disappear while delaying enrollment after receiving it will forfeit it altogether.

Scholarship recipients pursuing study in another country (third semester of undergraduate degree) will retain both their tuition grant and additional cost-of-living allowance (if applicable).

Masters:
The Emile Boutmy scholarship is given to first-year Sciences Po students accepted into its Master’s program and can take two forms.

  • A loan of EUR10,000 per year to cover tuition expenses during their two years of master’s study; an award of tuition worth EUR 5,000 annually can also be provided during those two years of Master’s.
    If your scholarship application is invalidated and cannot be confirmed, then its value is forfeited. Likewise, if it was awarded and you choose to postpone enrollment without giving notice beforehand then that scholarship becomes null and void as well.

Emile Boutmy Scholarship 2024 Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates eligible for consideration include first-time applicants from non-EU member countries whose households don’t pay taxes in Europe and who have been accepted into either Master’s or Undergraduate programs.

Students who do not meet eligibility requirements include:

  • Swiss and Norwegian applicants could qualify for COUS scholarships.
  • Dual citizenship applicants, such as EU citizenship candidates from Quebec applying to pursue master’s degrees can take advantage of sliding scale fees similar to European candidates; students with either bachelor or master’s degrees from Quebec are welcome to apply.
  • Candidates interested in the Joint Master in Journalism and International Affairs; And/or dual master’s-level degrees may want to consider any one of the programs below, such as a dual degree in Journalism Sciences offered at Columbia University as well as:
  • At Sciences Po/Fudan University, these dual diploma programs specialize in Europe-Asia International Affairs; for those of Chinese nationality only (only those applying with Chinese Nationality can enroll), while at Peking University this dual degree entails only applicants having Chinese Nationality applicants must possess Chinese citizenship for admission; additionally there are the three year Ph.D program and thesis requirements (exclusive to applicants having Chinese Nationality); plus one-year Master degree programs available as options as well.
  • Candidates holding dual bachelor degrees (except under an express agreement ), exchange students or those applying through the French graduate admissions procedure

Application Procedure For Emile Boutmy Scholarship :

  • Students wishing to apply for the Emile Boutmy scholarship must indicate this in the “Financial Information” section of their Sciences Po application form.
  • Note that we may require applicants to present documents of their earnings that demonstrate the family dynamics (e.g. income tax returns for both parents, payslips from each, divorce certificates, unemployment payments and any documents regarding child support payments/alimony arrangements or pension arrangements for retirement/death certificates…).
  • Applying applicants must submit, if eligible, language tests before the due date for award consideration.
